A Sweet Tea Wedding
BSTQ and Mr. Tea remarry after 25 years

With BobDaddy doing the honors, The Boss Sweet Tea Queen Carolyn and Mr. Tea renewed their vows on July 26th. TeanaNicole and TeanaLisa were the bridesmaids while The Heir and The Spare performed Usher duties. Mr. Tea's brother Kurt acted as Best Man and video photographer.  Also in attendance were Carolina Goddess,  TeanaChris, Princess Julie and TeanaNicole's Beloved Consort "Hambone" who performed still photo duties.

Ms. Whirled Peas makes Gaffney parade "peachy keen"

In spite of BSTQ being stuck in the hospital for gall bladder surgery, the Gaffney Peach Festival parade brought out a fabulous float of Queens, with guests Ms. Whirled Peas and Coffee Goddess. The large and happy crowds reached for green Mardi gras beads while the Queens rode a special version of the float, decked out with "peas". After a high speed death-defying float ride to the Prime Outlets "Yeller Mall", as the locals call it, where the Queens acquired a new Security Stud, they went over to cheer on the Boss Queen at Mary Black Hospital.

Spartanburg Herald Journal's Stroller column tempts readers
"STQs might just steal the show"
Those float-ridin' floosies got a primo blurb in Friday, July 11th's newspaper, under the venerable Stroller column, with a challenge to readers to give it up for some Mardi gras beads during the Gaffney Peach festival parade the next day. Even with BSTQ in the hospital for gall bladder surgery, the queens strut their stuff and make the news! The full column is here!

Relay For Life gets a run for the Money
Queens sashay around the Track

The Sweet Tea Queens raised over $700 at this year's Spartanburg Spring Fling to benefit Relay For Life. None of it would have been possible without the generous support of The Beacon restaurant and Sam Maw. Sam provided us with lots of cases of Beacon iced tea and we moved it!

Belles dazzle media at PR event
Queen Bea and BSTQ were asked to attend the press conference for the 25th annual Spartanburg Spring Fling and strut their stuff.  The Queens are slated to be a big part of this year's Fling, with a mini-QueenMobile carting them around and the ladies acting as emcees for various events.

Here, Jerry Pate, who we've always believed to be the Ansel Adams of the Spartanburg Herald Journal's photo crew and our favorite, takes delight in snapping up the STQs. The construction dude in the background is in total awe.

Sweet Tea Queens parade through Jackson 2003Jackson 2003!
STQs carry veterans and virgins to Queens' paradise

Jackson the second time around was just as fun. Bringing veterans and newbies alike, the STQs came on the scene and paraded with thousands of others right down the main street in Mississippi's capital city.

New Queens abound!
Carolina Queens converge
for Pre-Jackson summit

The STQs met up with newly-formed chapters from the Upstate and
a queen from Asheville. The Just Desserts Queens of Greenwood, SC and The Lone Star Salsa Queens' Boss Queen converged at the legendary Beacon to discover the queenliness  that abounds in the area. T-Bird Blonde of Asheville, came down the mountain to join us, while Swamp Goddess tried to come from Rockingham, NC, but nearly got drowned from the weather.

Seen here are only part of the celebration: Cheesecake Queen, The Just Desserts Queens of Greenwood, T-Bird Blonde, Coffee Goddess, Queen Bea, TeanaLisa and BSTQ, and center, in a rare appearance, Mr. Tea.

The Queens' Secret Ball
The SPQs own KACEY JONES live!

A weekend of fun and chos occurred in Spartanburg as the Sweet Tea Queens hosted the Sweet Potato Queens own songstress Kacey Jones at a private concert at Java Jive coffehouse.  But not to leave it at that, the very same weekend, the Queens particiapted in the Shriners' parade in Duncan, SC and BSTQ spoke to a Shriner womens' convention! Overall, it was quite a weekend to remember.
